Lets be clear here we’re talking about forgiveness of the Self, not necessarily reconciliation…
Dr Ihaleakala Hew Len
I had the deeply humbling good fortune to have studied with Dr Ihaleakala Hew Len a few years ago, here in Perth and I now share it with you to consider his very simple, yet profound teachings on advancing through your life without the baggage from the past.
When we hold another person to ‘ransom’… “I will never forgive him/her” for any misgivings of the past”, we are holding ourselves to ransom and, we ourselves, will never be free.
The simple, yet profound Ho’oponopono forgiveness process gifted to us by the Native Hawaiian First Nation People, brought to the West by Dr Ihaleakala Hew Len is nothing short of life changing.
All that is required of us to do, is when faced with a situation or person with whom we are in conflict, no matter what; is to silently chant in our minds
– I’m Sorry
– Please Forgive Me
– I Love You
– Thank You
I’m sorry for my part in co-creating this situation we find ourselves in.
Please will you forgive me for my part in this.
I love you – universal love.
Thank you; thank YOU for the opportunity for me to heal that within me that has co-created that within you.
Dr Ihaleakala Hew Len says that after a short time of chanting these four lines to ourselves, we can eventually just say, I love You, or Thank You.
Skeptic?
Sure.
I sure was.
I experienced a life changing situation, when a particularly unpleasant relationship in my life turned around within four days of me silently chanting these four sentences every time I thought about this person. To this day, this relationship is very different.
Set yourself free, after all we may as well be saying, I Love You, Thank you, to ourselves, rather all the other constant babble which preoccupies our minds; keeping us up late at night.
More about Ho’oponopono
The word Ho’oponopono means to make right, and/or to rectify a mistake. The process is based on the ancient Hawaiian method for stress release and problem solving. According to the ancient Hawaiians, errors arise from thoughts that are contaminated by painful memories from the past. These painful memories cause imbalance and disease and by using the Ho’oponopono method we can clean, erase and release them. When we experience fear and stress in our lives it is caused by a memory. The emotions which are tied to these memories affect us now.
Self I-dentity thro Ho’oponopono (SITH)
Morrnah Nalamaku Simonea was a native Hawaiian Kahuna Lapa’au and the pioneer of modern Ho’oponopono, now referred to as Self I-dentity through Ho’oponopono (SITH). The meaning of Kahuna is “keeper of the secret” and the word Lapa’au means “a specialist in healing”. As a young child, Morrnah received her gift of healing and was chosen to be a Kahuna. Eventually, due to the effectiveness of SITH, Morrnah was invited to teach this method at the United Nations, the World Health Organisation and at institutions of healing throughout the world during her lifetime.
According to Morrnah, the subconscious associates an action or person in the present with something that happened in the past. When this occurs, emotions are activated and stress is produced. The whole process is about freedom from the past, freedom from our memories. One of the main purposes of this process is to discover the Divinity within oneself. SITH is a profound gift which allows you to develop a working relationship with the Divinity within and learn to ask that in each moment, our errors in thought, word, deed or action be cleansed. The whole process is essentially about freedom, that is, complete freedom from the past.
There are many healers/therapists in society. One only has to open the web, type in the word healing, healer and/or therapist and one is immediately made aware of how many people have chosen to make themselves available for others. Morrnah recommends SITH for those in the healing profession. She claimed that it was important to clear karmic patterns with your client before you even begin working with them. This way the healer/therapist can avoid activating “old stuff” between themselves and their client.
Morrnah and her associate Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len worked together for many years. During this time Dr Hew Len was a consulting clinical psychologist in a Unit at the Hawaii State Hospital. He had profound results by using Ho’oponopono with the patients in this unit who were very dangerous, violent and criminally insane. Yet he never talked to them and he never saw them. What he did was wrote their name down and then worked on himself cleaning his beliefs, attitudes and judgments and repeating the phrase, “I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you”. As the memories are cleaned in the therapist, the patient improves.
Up until recently, Dr. Hew Len taught the SITH method in many countries, including Perth; however the baton has now been passed to his successors.
Self I-dentity through Ho’oponopono enables us to reclaim our personal inner connection with our Divine Source resulting in Peace, Balance and Freedom, free to receive what is Perfect and Right for each of us moment to moment.
